Patchlands · privacy policy

Made for the table.
Careful with your data.

Patchlands is an offline-first puzzle game. Your games and progress live on your device; a small amount of optional mobile telemetry helps us understand gameplay, deliver settings, and fix crashes.

Effective September 4, 2026 Operator Kodsnickerboa · Sweden

1. Scope

This privacy policy explains how Kodsnickerboa handles information in the Patchlands mobile game for Android and iOS, and in the responsive web beta. Patchlands is a local-first puzzle game with solo play and local, pass-and-play multiplayer. The app does not currently provide online multiplayer, accounts, or a profile service.

The policy applies to the app and not to the independent privacy practices of Apple, Google, Firebase, GitHub, or the device and operating-system providers you use.

2. Data we process

The information handled depends on the platform and the features you use. We do not ask you to create an account or provide an email address, phone number, contacts, photos, videos, precise location, microphone recordings, or payment details. Local multiplayer lets you enter display names, which stay on the device as described below.

Stored locally on your device

Saved games, campaign progress, local high scores and replays, local multiplayer display names, selected player pieces, tutorial state, notification preference, theme, motion, haptics, speed-run, and screen-rotation settings.

Gameplay analytics · mobile only

Firebase Analytics may receive pseudonymous gameplay events such as game mode, level identifiers, player count, scores, stars, attempts, duration, board progress, Survival progress, patch identifiers, and selected non-identifying settings. Local display names are not included in these events.

Crash diagnostics · mobile only

Firebase Crashlytics may receive crash reports, stack traces, exception information, relevant app state, app version, operating-system and device information, and pseudonymous installation or session identifiers. Patchlands does not intentionally attach player names or account identifiers to crash reports.

Remote settings · mobile only

Firebase Remote Config may process a Firebase installation identifier and technical context such as country, language, time zone, platform and operating-system version, app/package version, and SDK version. It returns feature flags and gameplay-availability settings; it does not supply or store Patchlands game saves.

Optional notifications · mobile only

If you choose Enable notifications and grant the operating system's permission, Firebase Cloud Messaging may process a Firebase installation identifier and push-registration data to deliver notifications. Patchlands does not read, save, or log the messaging token. Notification payloads are not saved by the app; supported payloads can open a local Patchlands screen.

Web beta

The web beta uses browser-local storage for game data and does not initialize the mobile Firebase engagement services. Browser private mode, storage limits, or browser cleanup may remove that local data.

Firebase SDKs can automatically process technical information needed to provide their services, such as a per-installation identifier, app and device details, network information, and service diagnostics. The exact fields depend on the Firebase product, platform, and operating-system settings.

3. How we use information

We use information only for the following purposes:

  • to run Patchlands and keep your local games, progress, and settings available on your device;
  • to understand aggregate gameplay patterns and improve balance, content, usability, and reliability;
  • to diagnose crashes and technical failures;
  • to deliver remotely managed feature and availability settings while keeping bundled content and local saves authoritative; and
  • to deliver optional push notifications that you have enabled.

The current Patchlands implementation does not contain an advertising SDK, use telemetry to serve targeted advertising, or sell personal information. Firebase and Google may process data as independent service providers under their own terms and privacy documentation.

4. Who receives information

We use Google Firebase for the mobile services described in this policy:

  • Google Analytics for Firebase for pseudonymous usage analytics;
  • Firebase Crashlytics for crash reporting;
  • Firebase Remote Config for remote feature settings; and
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging for optional push notifications.

Firebase is operated by Google. Firebase may process information on servers and through service providers in countries where Google operates. See Google's Firebase privacy and security information and Google Privacy Policy for the providers' own details, controls, and current retention information.

We do not share local game saves, local display names, or local high-score tables with other players or with a Patchlands online service. Apple and Google may separately process information as part of their app-store, device, and notification platforms.

5. Choices, retention, and deletion

Notifications

Notifications are optional. You can decline the request or turn off notification permission in your device's operating-system settings. Patchlands only initializes its notification handling after you have enabled notifications in the app.

Local game data

Local game data remains on your device until you delete it. To remove it, uninstall Patchlands or use your platform's clear-app- data/storage controls. For the web beta, clear the site's browser storage. Uninstalling or clearing local storage does not retroactively remove data already sent to Firebase.

Firebase data

Firebase telemetry is retained by Google/Firebase according to the applicable Firebase and Google Analytics settings and policies. Firebase currently documents a 90-day removal period beginning for Crashlytics crash traces and associated identifiers; other Firebase identifiers and analytics data can have different retention periods. We do not keep a separate Patchlands copy of this telemetry.

The current release does not include an in-app switch for analytics or crash reporting. If you want to ask about data associated with a particular installation, contact us using the method below. Because Patchlands has no account and uses pseudonymous identifiers, we may not be able to identify or retrieve a particular installation without sufficient information.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, applicable privacy law may give you rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or restriction of personal data, and to object to or limit certain processing. You may also have a right to data portability or to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

To exercise a right, contact Kodsnickerboa. We may need to ask for information needed to understand and verify the request, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law. You may also complain to the data-protection authority in the country where you live or work. In Sweden, this is Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY).

7. Children

Patchlands does not knowingly request names, email addresses, or other directly identifying information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can review the request and take appropriate action.

8. Contact and changes

The privacy point of contact is Kodsnickerboa, an independent app studio in Sweden. For privacy questions or requests, contact us privately at [email protected].

We may update this policy when Patchlands' data practices change or when required by law. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the latest version.
